PINHOLE

23 & 24 March, 10.00-17.00.
Derek Reay specializes in the production of large pinhole photographs using whole rooms as cameras,
although on this workshop students will use a variety of different boxes to make their pinhole cameras.
Using a small hole instead of a lens can produce stunningly beautiful images, whose main
characteristic is soft focus, although more extreme cameras can introduce an element of distortion
and light non-uniformity, both of which can add an artistic element to the picture.
Students will make their own cameras (using more or less any box) noting the critical nature of the pinhole.
Cost for two days including materials for making the camera, taking the pictures and making
prints £250 including Derek Reay’s book on pinhole photography.
